MEDIC-LAB is the laboratory of the medical centre MEDIC ( Medic).
01 February 1990 is the official first operating day of MEDIC with X-RAY, ULTRASOUND,
ECR at 254 Hoa Hao St, Dics 10, HCMC.

MEDIC-LAB began with only 2 staff : A dean who was in charge of using spectrometer
to do biochemical analysis and A technician who was in charge of taking blood as
well as doing Hematology, Parasitology, and General Urinalysis tests.
Within the following years, the number of patients as well as staff increased, which
led to the gradually increasing number and the improvement of equipments, for instance:
Semi-automatic Biochemistry system (UV-VIS BIO MERIEUX), Semi-automatic Hematology
system CD-610, PC Protein Electrophoresis system , and then the ELISA System (Organon).
On the entry into 21st century, MEDIC-LAB was equipped with completely automatic
biochemistry system, Hematology system, Immunology system. These equipments are
connected with the computer system, and at that time, the daily number of patients
at MEDIC-LAB was about 1000 patients per day. But MEDIC-LAB did not stop here but
continued to improve the equipments by high throughput and faster results, however,
each system needed a technician to use and control them. Therefore, in 2005, MEDIC-LAB
changed again: using robotic systems and immunochemistry system combined to solve
with a high workloads in a certain time.

- The ADVIA WorkCell (Siemens) system: consists of 2 Centaur Immunology systems (240 tests/hour/systems) and 2 ADVIA 1650 Biochemistry (1650 tests/hour/systems).
- The Ci8200 system (Abbott): consists of 1 Biochemistry systems (800 tests/hour), 1 Immunology systems (200 tests/hour).
- The MODULAR system (Roche): 1 Biochemistry systems (800 tests/hour) , 2 Immunology systems (200 tests/hour/systems).
- At the moment we owns a COBAS system of ROCHE, which is connected into the MODULAR system at MEDIC-LAB, and this increases the capacity of the system as well as the productivities of the whole faculty.

Beside Biochemistry, Immunology, Hematology systems, MEDIC-LAB also develops another
field – Molecular Biology to create an all-sided solution in the process of detecting,
monitoring and treating Hepatitis B, C such as:
- Qualitative analysis HBVDNA, HCVRNA.
- Quantitative analysis HBVbDNA, HCVbRNA (Viroload, PCR Realtime [Hepatitis B, C...).
- Genotype Identification of HepB, HepC (Genotype & Mutation).
- Identificate the order of HepB, HepC.
It’s useful for the doctors
to choose the most effective and fastest treatment for the patients.

Nowadays, the Laboratory Faculty includes many teams such as:
-The outside team.
- The inside blood taking team.
- The Bio-chemistry team.
- The Hematology team.
- The Microbiology.
- Parasite team.
- The Immunology team.
- The DNA team.
- The Back-office Team.
The operating time : 4.00 am to 8.00 pm (nonstop).
Moreover, MEDIC-LAB has branches and cooperates with other hospitals and medical centre like: : Từ Đức Clinic (HCMC), Bình An Hospital (Rạch Giá) and 2 branches in PhnomPenh (Cambodia).
